“Among other things,” the statement in Air Canada’s Web site > read, “during the final hour of flight customers must remain > seated, will not be allowed to access carry-on baggage, or have > personal belongings or other items on their laps.”
Yeah… that’ll go over well.

Command-Space Language Switcher in OS X
spacepenguine:
One of the features I like best in OS X is the alternate inputs handling:
Compared to Windows, it is much more unified in presentation (sometimes the language bar doesn’t even show up on the task bar), and among *nix variations it seems to be the most user friendly. However, most of my typing for Japanese language class is half English and half Japanese, but in the input menu,...

SRS -- God's gift to students
I’m sure just about everyone has made flashcards at one point or another. It’s the classic way of learning. Gotta memorize the entire periodic table? Make flashcards and go thru that pile several times everyday until you know them by heart. Learning mastery!
Not quite. A few problems:
One: Flashcards quickly grown unwieldily. As long as you only have 30 words to memorize...

Merlin’s online personality has morphed in the past year from the fast-talker with a million links and apps on how to Get Things Done to a real zen-like “stop talking about how to do it and bleeping do it already”.
I can’t help but notice his change has gone hand in hand with the amount of Buddhist terms he’s used.
A lot of people are upset at the change, but I have...

Without a doubt, this has to be one of the coolest plug-ins I’ve found for firefox.
Everyone knows that the single best way to learn a foreign language is to immerse yourself in it. Completely immerse yourself and you simply have no choice but to learn the language. Your body starts to inhale it in the same way that a baby does.
We know this. Sure, duh, of course.
But if you’re like...

Coffee, nectar of the gods
I love coffee. I mean, I love coffee. I survived college partially by hanging out daily in the local coffee house where I could actually have intelligent conversation (no comment about the quality of my university classes… besides that comment) and free coffee refills. Actually I’m not too sure the refills were free, but my friends and I were friendly with the owner, so we always took...

…set in China, with Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s kid. This doesn’t bother me as much as it does the commenters on the post, but I do hope they change the name. Kung Fu Kid (or wushu…) probably wouldn’t have the same ring, but it would be a bit more accurate.
(as to the commenter who suggests we have a movie where samurai and ninja show up wandering around the...
